Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 30, 2026
Summary
ClipMark does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data. There are no analytics, no trackers, no advertising and no third-party scripts in the extension.
Page content
When you click Save as .md or Copy, the extension extracts the article content of the current page locally, inside your browser, using the open-source Readability and Turndown libraries, and converts it to Markdown. The result is written to your Downloads folder through the browser's own Downloads API, or placed on your clipboard.
No page content is ever uploaded to any server.
Settings
Your preferences — chosen frontmatter template, save folder,
auto-tag setting and Pro unlock status — are stored locally in your
browser using the chrome.storage API. They never leave
your device.
License key validation (Pro users only)
If you enter a ClipMark Pro license key, the extension sends that key
together with a randomly generated installation id to ClipMark's own
validation service, which forwards the key to our payment provider,
Creem (api.creem.io), to check whether it is active.
Only the license key and the installation id are transmitted, and only for validation. No page content, browsing history or other data is sent anywhere.
The installation id is a random string stored on your device. It is used solely so that a single license cannot be activated on an unlimited number of browsers. It is not derived from, and cannot be traced back to, you or your device.
Payments
Purchases are processed by Creem, which acts as the Merchant of Record. Creem collects payment card details and billing information directly; ClipMark never sees or stores them. Creem's handling of that data is governed by Creem's own privacy policy.
Data we hold
We hold no accounts and no databases of user data. The only records we receive are the purchase records and license keys held by Creem, which we can see in order to provide support and refunds.
Children
ClipMark is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL and shipped with the next extension release. Material changes will be called out in the extension's release notes.
